Xerjoff Erba Pura Eau de Parfum
Erba Pura is divisive, and that is the first thing worth knowing before buying it. It is the best-selling creation from Xerjoff and one of the most argued-over: the recurring criticism is that it is too sweet, too loud. Composed by Christian Carbonnel and Laura Santander, it commits to a fruity generosity that few fragrances at this level still attempt. If you want something discreet, this is not it. If you want a fragrance people notice and ask you about in the elevator, you are in the right place.
The opening bursts with Sicilian orange and lemon alongside Calabrian bergamot, a clean, almost sparkling citrus hit. The heart arrives quickly: a basket of Mediterranean fruits, ripe and candied rather than green, giving the fragrance its instantly recognisable signature. A base of white musk, amber and Madagascar vanilla rounds everything off and does the work of lasting. Expect eight to twelve hours on skin, with projection that fills a room within the first hour.
Best suited for
Daytime, spring and summer: warmth lifts the citrus and keeps the vanilla base from turning heavy. This is a terrace, night-out and travel fragrance rather than one for a closed meeting room, where the projection can crowd people. Officially unisex, it is worn as readily by men as by women, and it sits comfortably in both our fragrances for men and our oriental selections for women. One spray is usually enough.
Why choose Xerjoff Erba Pura?
Erba Pura is also among the most imitated niche fragrances on the market: "inspired by" versions, decants and repackaged bottles keep multiplying, which is the flip side of genuine success. At Le Parfumier you are buying the authentic, sealed Xerjoff bottle in its official 50 and 100 ml formats, not a decant or an in-house variant. An Italian haute parfumerie house based in Turin, Xerjoff is known for the quality of its raw materials and the opulence of its compositions, and Erba Pura remains its most popular way in. Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
What does Xerjoff Erba Pura smell like?
It is a sunny, frankly sweet fruity fragrance. It opens on Sicilian orange and lemon with Calabrian bergamot, then settles into a basket of ripe Mediterranean fruits. The base of white musk, amber and Madagascar vanilla makes it creamy and enveloping. This is a demonstrative scent, not a discreet one.
Is Erba Pura for men or for women?
Erba Pura is officially unisex and is worn as readily by men as by women. The citrus opening gives it a masculine legibility, while the vanilla-fruit base has broad appeal with women. At Le Parfumier it appears in the selections for both.
What does "Erba Pura" mean?
"Erba pura" means "pure grass" in Italian. The name evokes the green freshness and Mediterranean light behind the composition rather than a literal green note: the fragrance itself is fruity and sunny, with no cut-grass accord.
How long does Erba Pura last?
Expect roughly eight to twelve hours on skin, with strong projection in the first hour that then settles closer to the body. It is among the longest-wearing fragrances in the Xerjoff range. One spray is enough in most situations, two at most in cooler weather.
